Preparing Yourself for Lakeland Cheerleading Tryouts

Making the decision to become a part of a Lakeland cheerleading team is an exciting and nerve-wracking decision to make. However, this decision can potentially influence the rest of your life. You’ll make lifelong friends, build up your confidence, and have the opportunity to experience things you’ve never expected to.

As the first step to being a part of a cheer squad, you’ll have to undergo tryouts, and you may be extremely nervous about this. Cheerleading is has become very competitive now and you may be feeling the pressure. Here are some things to keep in mind for your cheerleading tryouts.

Reach out to the team

When preparing for cheerleading tryouts, it’s very important to make yourself known to the coaches and the other cheerleaders. After all, if you get in, you’ll be spending a lot of time with these people, so it helps to befriend them early on. After all, no coach would want to put someone who doesn’t get along with the others on the team.

Keep yourself fit

Leading up to the days of tryouts, it’s important to eat healthy food and drink lots of water to make sure that your body is in tip top shape for tryouts. If you eat junk food and drink too much soda, your body will eventually feel sluggish and bloated, which can affect your performance during tryouts. Your body will have difficulty keeping up if you aren’t giving it the right fuel it needs.

Practice your routine

Of course, you need to practice your tryout routine to make sure that you’ve got everything down pat. Make sure you put in extra effort in the stunts that you’re not particularly strong in, but don’t try to attempt anything that’s too advanced, as you may end up hurting yourself before tryouts have even started. Keep your routine to something you’re comfortable with, but still with enough technical stunts that’ll definitely wow whoever’s watching.

Don’t forget to warm up and condition your body to the physical activity

Cheerleading is very vigorous and physical, so like any other sport, you need to maintain the overall physical fitness of your body so you do not end up hurting yourself in the process. Warm up your body to prevent muscle tension and fatigue, and condition your body so that it’ll get used to the level of physical activity you’re going to put it through.

Don’t forget to bring your a-game on tryouts day and have fun

On the day of the tryouts, make sure that your hair and makeup are perfect, and that you’ve got your smiles and waving ready. Remember, a very big part of cheerleading is the energy that you bring, so make sure you’re got lots of that in store. Make sure you look and sound great. Most of all, don’t forget to have fun! Lakeland cheerleading tryouts may be something that you’re nervous for, but don’t be hard on yourself, and have fun out there.
